Treasury Solutions – Dubai Islamic Bank Pakistan
Dubai Islamic Bank Pakistan offers a wide range of Shari’ah-compliant liquidity
management and treasury products designed to meet the diverse needs of financial
institutions, corporates, and individual investors.
Interbank Musharakah
Interbank Musharakah (Money Market Limits) are used for short-term placement of
surplus liquidity between financial institutions under a standard Musharakah
Agreement. Assets are mainly Government Ijarah Sukuk, and profits are shared as
per the agreed Profit Sharing Ratio (PSR) under Shirkat al-‘Aqd. The arrangement
may be with or without collateral, subject to approval.
Interbank Wakalah
Under Wakalah arrangements, investors (Principals) place their funds with Dubai
Islamic Bank, which acts as an Agent to manage the investment. The Bank charges
a Wakalah (agency) fee as per the agreed terms. All risks and rewards remain with
the investors, in accordance with Shari’ah rules.
Foreign Currency Transactions – Ready & Forward
Dubai Islamic Bank also facilitates Shari’ah-compliant foreign currency transactions
to support the needs of importers, exporters, and other clients while mitigating FX
risks.
Ready Transaction – Deal Date and Maturity Date fall on the same day.
Forward Transaction (Promise based) – refers to a unilateral commitment by one
party to undertake a transaction for the benefit of the other. In banking, forward
currency sale/purchase transactions are executed on this basis, where one party
promises to buy or sell the currency on the agreed due date.
Bai’ Muajjal of Sukuk
Where placement with Islamic financial institutions is not possible, Dubai Islamic
Bank offers Shari’ah-compliant alternatives such as Bai’ Muajjal of Sukuk.
The Bank purchases Sukuk from the market on a spot basis and sells them to
counterparties on a deferred payment basis. The counterparty can then sell those
Sukuk in the market for liquidity. This product is also available to clients beyond
financial institutions.
